It sounds like you have air in your fuel system.
About 270 gallons of diesel--the exact number if you're getting 6.5mpg is 259.54 gallons, but that doesn't take into account traffic jams, docking or idling the truck to run the air conditioner.
an idling diesel engine or snoring :]
a dirty air filter or a dirty fuel filter will cause a diesel to smoke
Possibly due to engine mount
Cuz it runs on diesel or your cat is shot, sorry bud.
one of the main reasons an engine runs on or diesels can be related to the fact that it is idling too fast. Set the idling down and see if this imporoves
A tractor trailer should ideally idle for no more than 5 to 10 minutes, as prolonged idling can waste fuel and increase engine wear. Many modern engines are designed to warm up quickly, and excessive idling can also contribute to unnecessary emissions. It's best to turn off the engine when parked for extended periods and only restart when necessary. Additionally, some jurisdictions have regulations limiting idling time to reduce environmental impact.
I have a problem with my Peugeot 306 deasel pump its not idling
It depends on the truck ie;a volvo 780 burns 7.0 gallons in 10 hrs.
In dusty conditions, or with extensive idling replace fuel filters every 15,000 miles.
most likely it's a bad thermostat, or your vents not working properly.
