Keep dividing the number 900 with prime numbers until you can't get any smaller. All the numbers that you've divided by will make up the prime factors

The best way to lay your working out is through a prime factor tree diagram but since I can't do that here, I'll just demonstrate it the plain old boring way:

900 / 3 = 300

300 / 3 = 100

100 / 2 = 50

50 / 2 = 25

25 / 5 = 5

All the numbers in bold are what make up the 900 as those were the prime factors I divided with.

Remember that you must also include the last number as well which I've just underlined because that is also a Prime number.

Now that we have all our prime factors, we put them in order:

2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 5 x 5.

And that's it. Alternatively, you could simplify it by bringing in the same numbers together and writing it like this:

22 x 32 x 52

Remember, these prime factors of yours should multiply back to get you 900. If it doesn't, then you've gone wrong somewhere. This is a good way to check your answer whenever you are doing a Prime Factor question.

Hope that helps.
