well, let's look at factors of 36 1,2,3,4,6,9,12,18,36 and now the factors of 30: 1,2,3,5,6,10,15,30 Now the common ones are: 1 2,3, and 6 The GCF would be 6 which we would see by writing 36=2^2x3^2 30=2x3x5 So the GCF is 2x3=6
