Percentages are based off of the number 100. If you have a fraction or a decimal, you can always multiply or divide it to get your percentage. For example: We have the number 45/100. This is the same as 45 of Object A's out of a possible 100 Object A's. We simply divide 45 into 100, which gives us .45 as the answer... or 45%. Decimals are easiet to convert into a percentage. Think of the number in front of the decimal as 100. Everything on the right is the fraction of that 100. The first digit after the decimal is called a 10th, meaning it would take 10 of these to make one number on the left. The second digit is called a hundredth, meaning it would take 100 of these to make a number on the left. To do get the percentage, we multiply by 100. That number (100) is showing up everywhere, isn't it? lol So, for your number, we will multiply 1.49 by 100. When we do this, we move the decimal to the right by two spaces. The end result: 149. Simply add a fancy % sign and you're done. So, 1.49 as a percentage is the same as saying 149%. ~Apple Juice
