∙ 5y agoThe rules when rounding off numbers are as follows :- 1) If the first figure to be discarded is 5 or more, then the previous figure is increased by 1. Example : 5.1935 = 5.194 (4sf) = 5.19 (3sf) = 5.2 (2sf) = 5 (1sf) 2) Zeros must be kept to show the position of the decimal point or to indicate that zero is a significant figure. Thus, 2750 is the answer to 4sf and also to 3sf. 2800 is the solution to 2sf and 3000 is the answer to 1 sf.
6.6273 rounded to the nearest thousandths is 6.627 Rounded to the nearest hundredths, it is 6.63. Rounded to the nearest tenths, it it 6.6. Rounded to the nearest ones, it is 7.
But rounded to what because if it's rounded to the nearest 10 it then is 13240
16 is rounded to 20 if rounded to the ten's digit.
7 if rounded to the nearest whole number, 7.7 if rounded to the nearest tenth.
It could be rounded to 71.2 (3sf) or 71 (2sf).
173495.62=173000 (3SF) dunno dont trust me but weve just learned this in maths class so yeah :D

Thus, 1347 becomes 1350 (3sf). When rounded to 2 significant figures it becomes 1400 and to one significant figure 1000.

No, 3sf is basically when you have 3 numbers which are not zero. However, this changes in an example such as 0.109, where this is 3sf, as there is a number above value of zero before a zero, meaning that all the following numbers add to the total of figures.
It is: 1.0*10^6 = 1,000,000 in scientific notation
log(6) or log10(6) = 0.778 (3sf). Therefore 100.778 = 6 (if you did not understand logarithms).
It's simply 19/60. As a decimal number this is 0.317 (3sf)
Resistance=Voltage2/Power =1202/1100 =13.1 (3sf)
Still depends in how often you change your oil. If say, in every 3k km then ordinary to semi will do.
