2rx4 is better
My IT provider is convincing me there is no difference between a 2Rx4 and a 2Rx8 RAM. A littledigging aroundinformed me that x4 means 4 bits on a chip vs x8 means 8 bits. Which is good, but what difference does that make?
DDR2 667MHz

My guess is yes. The 1Rx = single rank ie memory chips on one side only. eg 2Rx4 would be double sided RAM 1rx8 is single sided. Single sided is quicker. I don't know what the x8 or x16 means but I think it has to do with accessibilty......I couldn't find much out except that regardless of rank number(4,8,16 etc) the CPU only accesses one at a time......it seems to make no difference.
This is fully buffered RAM for servers as it is ECC Registered! It is also an FB DIM so will not fit in standard 240pin slots. An example of servers that use this are: HP Proliant DL360 G5 HP Proliant DL380 G5 Dell Poweredge 1950 Dell Poweredge 2900 Dell Poweredge 2950
