Since 18 is 9 and 14 is 7 after dividing by 2, and 12 is 6, the only even number, it is the only one that can be divided by 2 again. But, the other two numbers (9 and 7) can't be divided by 2 anymore, therefore, the GCF is 2

The greatest common factor (GCF) refers to a factor that is COMMON to two or more numbers. You have only one number in the question! The greatest factor of any number is itself.

The GCF of 12, 14, and 18 is 2. The GCF can never be greater than the smallest difference between the numbers. Since 12 and 14 are consecutive even numbers, the GCF of the set is 2.
