Not all keyboards are the same. On my keyboard < is "shift+," and > is "shift+.". < is just above the right hand end of the space bar and the > is to its right.

This has happened to me on various occasions. It could be any of the following:Low batteries. Replace batteries.Too much stuff on your computer.Dirty. Keyboard needs cleaning.Reboot your computer do a system cleaning.If all else fails, it may be sticking because of something getting on the keyboard. You may need a new keyboard.
