because when multiplying or dividing two negatives equal a positive.

Let me try to explain it using words and an example from everyday life.

Imagine you say "I am not going to school." The not is a negative and means you are not going! Now say "I am not not going to school." Since there are two nots they actually cancel each other out and in this sentence. It is called a double negative. Your first not is actually cancelling out your second not which then makes you say that you are going to school. This is the same idea in math when multiplying and dividing. When you have two negatives they cancel each other out do not count just like in the "not not" idea.

if this makes no sense i am sry. its the way how i was taught in 8th grade to under stand double negatives and it made sense to me.

How can you tell about two integers when their quotient is positive negative zero?

If both integers are positive or both negative then the quotient is positive. If they are one of each then the quotient is negative.

What can you tell about two integers when their quotient is positivenegative and zero?

When the quotient of two integers is positive, either both integers are positive or both negative. When the quotient of two integers is negative, one of the integers is positive and one negative. When the quotient of two integers is zero, the first integer is zero and the second one is anything but zero.

What is the sign of the quotient of two positive integers?

The quotient of two positive integers will be positive. A positive divided by a positive is positive. A positive divided by a negative is negative. A negative divided by a positive is negative. A negative divided by a negative is positive.

How do divide integers?

* The quotient of two positive integers or two negative integers is positive. * The quotient of a positive integer and a negetive integer is negetive.

What can you tell about two integers when their quotient is positive negative or zero?

Quotient positive: Both integers have the same sign: both positive or both negative. Quotient zero: The first integer is 0. Quotient negative: The integers have opposite signs: one positive and one negative.

How do you determine the sign of a quotient two integers?

-- If the two integers have the same sign, their quotient is positive. -- If the two integers have different signs, their quotient is negative.

Will the quotient of two negative integers always be negative?

No, always positive.

What can you tell about two integers when their quotient is positive negative zero?

Their quotient is positive if the integers have the same sign;negative if the integers have different signs;zero if the dividend is zero (and the divisor is not).

How willyou describe the quotient of two positive or two negative integere?

As a quotient of two integers!

What is the quotient of positive and negative integers?

The quotient is what you get when you divide two numbers. If both numbers are positive, the quotient will be positive. If both numbers are negative, the quotient will be positive. If one number is positive and one number is negative, their quotient will be negative.

How does the quotient between 2 negative numbers compare to the value of the original 2 integers?

The quotient of two negative numbers is positive. So, when dividing two negative numbers, the result will be positive.

The quotient of any two negative integers is a negative number true or false?

False. Either the product or the quotient of two negative numbers is positive.False. Either the product or the quotient of two negative numbers is positive.False. Either the product or the quotient of two negative numbers is positive.False. Either the product or the quotient of two negative numbers is positive.
