So you have the problem 7 + 3x = 5x + 13

you need to get all the x's to one side and all constants "like 7" to the other side.


So from the left side, subtract 7 from that side but then subtract it from the 13 on the other side.


Now you get 3x = 5x + 6


Now subtract the 5x from the right side and from the left side.


Now you get -2x = 6


Divide the -2 from the x and from the 6 on the right side.


Now you get x = -3
