Bottlenecks don't just apply to servers. Usually its a reference to hardware. Just say you have all new parts on your server / PC. So data is being sent all around the PC, from keyboard to the motherboard, to memory, to CPU etc... Now imagine the data is going all around really fast until it comes to a certain device that's really crap - then it all has to slow down - but as soon it gets past that slow device it speeds up again to its original fast speed. That slow device is the bottleneck....
It depends on the speed of your internet connection. It could take hours on a very slow connection, or just a couple of minutes on a lightning fast connection. Also, how busy the server is that you are downloading from will also have an effect. A very busy server and/or a connection to the 'net that isn't fast enough to support all of the downloads being done at the same time will extend your download time.
I personally would say that finger print readers are very reliable. They are nearly full-proof, and are fast and secure.I would have some kind of backup though just in case something does go wrong. Maybe a password?
