Search the keyboard for a key with a label that looks like x1/y.
If your calculator has a label like that, then that's the key you'll use
to perform a 5th root. Step-by-step instructions are included in the
instruction booklet that came with the calculator. In sketchy form . . .
-- Key in the number into the display for which you want the 5th root.
-- Press the [ x1/y ] key.
-- Key in the root you want ( 5 ) into the display.
-- Press the 'equals' key.
Enter the number, press ^ and enter 1/3 i.e. the cube root of 27 would be 27^(1/3)

To find the square root on a calculator without a radical symbol, you can use the power function. Simply raise the number to the power of 0.5 to find the square root. For example, to find the square root of 16, you can input 16^0.5 into your calculator to get the result.

Assuming the calculator can do exponents, take the number and raise it to the power of 1/2.
