∙ 16y agoOne litre is equal to one Kilogram of H2O. Therefore, in consideration to solutes in water, a milligram per litre is equal to a milligram per kilogram.
1 kilogram = 1000 grams.
1 gram = 1000 milligrams.
Therefore 1 kilogram = 1000x1000 = 1 000 000 milligrams. Back to the first statement, substituting 1 000 000 milligrams for kilogram:
a milligram per litre is equal to a milligram per 1 000 000 milligrams,
which is one part per million. Cheers,

∙ 16y agoIf there are 50 ppm (parts per million) of a substance in 1 liter, this means there are 50 milligrams of the substance in 1 liter. Since 1 milligram is equal to 1 milliliter of water, there are 50 milliliters of the substance in 1 liter.
There are one million milligrams in one liter. 4.8 milligrams is 4.8 parts per million (parts per million) There are one million milligrams in one liter. 4.8 milligrams is 4.8 parts per million (parts per million)
One milligram per kilogram IS one part per million: There are 1,000 milligrams in one gram and 1,000 grams in one kilogram. 1,000 mg = 1 g 1,000 g = 1 Kg 1,000 x 1,000 = 1,000,000
1000 ppm = 1 ppb I think equation to convert ppm to ppb is: 1 ppm = 1000 ppb, or 1 ppb = 1/1000 ppm * * * * * Wrong way around, I am afraid. 1000 parts per billion is 1 ppm. To convert ppb to ppm divide by 1000.

A liter is a measure of volume. It is equal to about 1.06 US quarts.
50ppb is equal to 0.05ppm
1000 micrograms is 1 milligram. so this is 1 milligram per millilitre, i.e. 1000 milligrams per litre. Parts per million is milligrams per litre. Therefore there are 1000ppm in 1000 micrograms per millilitre.
No. Even if that were milliliters to liters, it would still be parts per thousand.
Parts per million (ppm) is a unit of concentration that describes the amount of a substance in a mixture relative to the total amount of the mixture, whereas micrograms per liter (µg/L) is a unit of concentration that describes the mass of a substance dissolved in a specific volume of liquid. They are similar in that they both describe concentrations, but ppm is a ratio of parts per total parts, while µg/L is a mass per volume measurement.
ppm means mg/L, remember that. so ppb would be micrograms per litre (basically multiplied by 1000). So 1500ppb is 1.5ppm or mg/L Keep in mind the b means per billion and the m means million. It comes from assuming a density of 1g/ml, that a gram is equal to ml. Therefore, g/l is parts per thousand, mg/l is per million, ug/l is per billion
This question doesn't make sense. This is because the term parts per million means either weight per weight i.e. micrograms per gram or milligrams per kilograms, or weight per volume, i.e. milligrams per litre or micrograms per millilitre.
