I've always done it this way
1. set you font to Courier or another mono space font.
2. do a CR to go down one line
you use an upper case V and the _____ underline (upper case hyphen)

You can type a squared symbol (²) by using keyboard shortcuts or character maps. On Windows, you can type it using the Alt code by holding down the Alt key and pressing 0178 on the numeric keypad. On Mac, you can type it by pressing Option + 00B2 in the Unicode input. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the symbol directly from here: ².
There is a shortcut to making ² symbol, and it is Alt0178, which is hold down Alt button and while held down type 0178 numbers then release Alt button. Maybe there are special keyboards that can be bought that have it included; not sure.

The generally accepted way to type powers of a number is by using the carat symbol, or "^." So five to the second power (or squared) is 5^2.

You must use character map to type out the abbreviated form of partial eta squared (ηρ²) since it uses Greek letters which are not included on an English based keyboard.
