The answer, above, is for a 42 gallon barrel. For a 50 gallon barrel the answer is:

One gallon = 231 cubic inches.

One cubic foot = 1728 cubic inches (12 x 12 x 12)

231 x 50 = 11,550 cu. in.

11,550 ÷ 1728 = 6.684027 cubic feet.

Ans2 - There are MANY different 'barrels' in common use. In USA a common beer barrel is 31 US gallons, that's about 4.2 cu. ft. A barrel of petroleum is 42 US gallons. That's 5.615 cu. ft.

In Europe a beer barrel is 50 litres, that's 1.8 cu. ft.

Throughout the world, in common usage there are cranberry barrels, lime barrels, flour barrels, at least 4 sizes of apple barrels, and many more !

So you need to know exactly which barrel you are referring to
