First off, remember K H D | d c m (kilo, hecto, deka, (liter, meter, gram), deci, centi, milli). These are the denominations you need to list when converting metric units.

For each place you move on that scale, you move the decimal place one place, so to move from mili to liter, you would move the decimal three places to the left.

In other words, 1,000 milliliters are equal to 1 liter, so 1250 milliliters = 1.25 liters.
There are 1.25 litres in 1250 ml. As there are 1000 ml in a litre you simply divide the number of ml by 1000.
