On a keyboard (typewriter or computer keyboard), all keys are called characters.
In typing, any number would count as a character stroke (stroke meaning striking the letter or number to make it appear in a file or imprint on typing paper).
In most other circumstances, we simply use the word number or numbers.
When referring to a television station, we replace the word "number" with "channel", as in Channel 47.
When referring to a radio station, we simply say the full set of station call numbers followed by AM or PM, such as 104.9 FM. (One-oh-four point nine FM.)
When referring to paper money or coins in the USA, we use dollars and cents after a number, such as "My dress cost $44 dollars ($44.00).
For examples:
When ordering in a diner, Charles ordered selection number 11 from the menu.
Sally professed that number 9 was her lucky number, but George claimed 3 was his lucky number.
Number 5 comes immediately after number 4 but halfway before number 10.
