Why were improvements made on calculators?

Would you like looking through long lists of roots, or using a cumbersome way of finding them? Would you like to spend hours looking at log tables? Can you use a slide rule?

That is why calculators were made.

The "original calculator" is called the abacus and was invented in 2nd century china. It was developed in order to assist with calculations and to improve overall speed. The thing is that the abacus was invented before written language was, and as such was used in place of what we would typically use, paper.
