A 742 isn't all that expensive of a rifle, I wouldn't give much over $300 for it.I believe there's also a recall on a certain date of manufacture, make sure to check.
The 1960s 742 Woodmaster 30-06 rifle in mint condition might be worth as much as 7500 dollars in a collector auction. This value varies greatly with the trends in collecting.

Remington made those in the 60s thru 80s the Remington 7600 took its place they look identical, there a piecpiece of shyt, I always had problems with the 3 I owned and because of that there verry cheap to buy, a few hundred bucks at the most
The 742 is a 740 semi auto with the feeding problems fixed. Made from mid 1950's until it was replaced with the 7400.
