The purpose of truth tables is to understand network and switching logic at a higher level of computer hardware. Computers can recognise any instruction in binary form as "ones" and "zeroes" i.e. 1 or 0. In otherwords, an off or on signal will be generated by the hardware as part of the communication process.

1s denote off condition and 0s on condition. The possible conditions are tabulated in the form of a truth table to represent the switching logic, linked by "And", "or" etc.

Such logics are incorporated in the programs as instructions for operation of a set of hardware.
