problem:

The product of two whole numbers is 10,000 . If neither number contains zero, what are the numbers?????

solution:

prime factorization

10,000

^

10*1000

^ ^

2*5 100*10

^ ^

10*10 2*5

^ ^

2*5 2*5

prime factors:2*2*2*2*5*5*5*5 = 10,000

first get the value of 2^4

2*2*2*2= 16

then get the value of 5^4

5*5*5*5= 625

Now lets check...

16 * 625 = 10,000 ok

16 and 625 doesnt have any 0 ok

Another question:

If f(x)=x+1 and g(x)=(3x+1)^-2, find the domain of g o f?

1/(3x+1)^2 or 1/(3x+1)(3x+1)

since x ≠ -1/3 will only be repeated, we'll only use x ≠ -1/3

X+1≠-1/3 x≠-1 1/3 or x≠-4/3

{x|x≠-4/3}
