∙ 14y agoLarger numbers were indicated by putting a horizontal line OVER them, which meant to multiply the number by 1,000. So V, with a line OVER it, means 5,000.

∙ 14y agoIn Roman numerals, "W" does not represent any specific value. Roman numerals use letters such as I, V, X, L, C, D, and M to represent different values. The largest value represented by a single letter in Roman numerals is 1,000, which is represented by the letter "M".
w is not assigned a value in roman numerals.
The longest Roman numeral with a value under 1000 would be DCCCLXXXVIII (888)
The value of CL in Roman numerals is 150.
The value of MMIX in Roman numerals is 2009.
MDLI. Coulda looked up the meanings of the letters and worked it out, ya know.
L in Roman Numerals = 50
Yes, roman numerals do have place value. Each letter in a roman numeral represents a specific value, and the placement of these letters determines their overall value. For example, in the numeral "XIV", the "X" represents 10, the "I" represents 1, and the "V" represents 5.
W has no meaning in Roman numerals, therefore VW is undefined.
Do you mean in Roman numerals? If so then 67 in Roman numerals is LXVII.
Lower case Roman numerals have exactly the same value as upper case numerals
Presumably this is in reference to upper case Roman numerals rather than lower case numerals. For example: MMVIII (upper case) and mmviii (lower case) but they both have the same numerical value of 2008.
