All things being equal and in a non-lethal event, 480 would cause more pain. But dead is dead at any voltage.

In the US, both 220 and 480 require at least 2 hot conductors. Someone should never be hit by these voltages because you should never have 2 hot conductors in your hands at the same time.

How do you get a 220 volt single phase from 380 volt 3phase synchrounos generator?

220 volt single phase from 480 volt 3 phase that one wire taken one phase and second wire connected in earth point. we get 220 v The above answer is incorrect, one phase from a three phase 480 volt system will give you 277 volts to ground. You must use a transformer to get the voltage you need.

How do you convert 3 phase star configuration 380 volts supply into 220 volts supply?

The process of obtaining 220 volts from 380 volts is quite simple. 380 volts is a three phase four wire system voltage. The 220 volts is obtained by taking the sq. root of 3 which equals 1.73 and dividing it into the phase voltage. 380/1.73 = 220 volts. This holds true with any three phase four wire voltage system. 208/1.73 = 120 volts, 415/1.73 = 230 volts, 480/1.73 = 277 volts and 600/1.73 = 347 volts. This lower voltage is present on any of the three phase legs of the three phase system to the neutral which is grounded on a wye connection.

What voltage reading would you get from a 277 480 volt system?

From a three phase four wire distribution system the voltages would be as follows. From L1 to N - 277 volts. From L2 to N - 277 volts. From L3 to N - 277 volts. From L1 to L2 - 480 volts. From L2 to L3 - 480 volts. From L3 to L1 -480 volts.

Can you get 120 volts from a 480 volts 3 phase Y generator?

NO, the 480 Volts Y -- is 4 wire system, with three wires which are hot legs @ 480 volts between each three hot legs. A mid tap is a neutral leg (ground) the white wire. Which gives 277 volts between it and any of the three hot legs. so a 4wire 480 volt Y system. Gives 480 /277 volts.

What is the primary amps on a 25kva tranformer with input volts 480 Volts AC?

if it's single-phase, 25,000 divided by 480.

Is sj cord rated for 300 volts to be used for 480 volt?

No, SJ cord is only rated for 300 volts and is not suitable for use with 480 volts. It is important to use the correct voltage rated cord for safety and to prevent damage to equipment. Look for cords that are specifically rated for 480 volts.

How do you get single phase 440 from three phase 440?

You Don't. 440volt 3-phase is actually 480 volts, taking a single phase gives 277Volts single phase. To get single phase 440 you would use one leg of three phase 440/760 three phase power.

1500 kva transformer equals how many amps at 480 volts?

480 volts is probably 3-phase (Line to line) voltage, so: 1500K / (480 x 1.732) = I = 1804Amps

Should 2 legs of 480 volt 3 phase each have 480 volts?

Across a 480 volt three phase system, 480 volts should appear across L1 and L2, L2 and L3 and L3 and L1.

What is the difference between 277 volts and 240 volts?

These voltages are both wye connection three phase voltages. The voltage difference comes from the primary three phase voltage supplies. 277 volts is obtained from 277 x 1.73 = 480 and 240 volts is obtained from 240 x 1.73 = 415. 480/277 volts is a common three phase American voltage. 415/240 volts is a European voltage. In Canada a common three phase voltage is 347/600. The 240 volts could also be a single phase voltage in North America derived from a split phase secondary on a distribution transformer that supplies 120/240 volts to homes.
