Ohms are the SI unit of electrical impedance. Siemens are the unit of electrical conductance. Ohms are V/A while Siemens are A/V.

Take the reciprocal of one to get the other. 100 ohms is 1/100 or 0.01 S. 1 MS or 1,000,000 S is 0.000001 ohms, 1 micro ohm. 1 mS or 0.001 S is 1000 ohms.

1 Mega ohm is equal to 1.000.000 ohm.

You simply multiply with 1.000.000, One Million.

Example:

______123456______Example of a 5 band resistor with the value 3,2 MohmNote that band 1,2,3,4 and 6 makes up the 5 in use

In this example the first 3 bands read out the value directly.

First band is Orange. This is 3.

Second band is Red. This is 2.

Third band is Black. This is 0.

This makes the number 320. Now for the multiplication factor.

Fourth band is Yellow. This is 4. Ok. We simply add 4 zero's at the end.

The value of this particular resistor is 3.200.000

Or in short, the value is 3,2 Mega Ohm.

The 5'th band tells us how accurate this value is! (tolerance of the resistor)

Red indicate 2% accuracy.
