Civil Engineers earn about 50K right out of college, but that could vary by state. You can make more by working for yourself, or getting advanced degrees. It is a great job if you like to sit at a desk and crunch numbers and work 50-70 hour weeks.

An entry level Civil engineer in the US can expect to make between 50K and 60K upon graduation with a undergraduate degree. Salary increases come throughout a Civil Eningeer's career. A civil engineer (in most states) will be allowed to take the PE exam after they have received 4 years of experience working as and Engineer Intern (EI). A large raise usally accompanies successful completion of this exam. A civil engineer may also obtain a master's degree to earn more money. As an engineer becomes more experienced they become more valuable to a company, therby earning more money/
