What are peripheral effects of power electronics?

The operations of power electronic converters are mainly based on the switching of power semiconductor devices. Due to this the converters introduce voltage and current harmonics into the source as well as load. These harmonics can cause problems of distortion in the output voltage and current and also electromagnetic interference with the neighboring systems. To reduce these harmonics to an acceptable level it is necessary to introduce filters on the input and output of the converter. To evaluate the performance of the converter the quality of the waveform (voltage and current) needs to be measured using factors such as total harmonic distortion (THD), harmonic factor (HF) and input power factor (IPF). The implementation of proper control algorithm in the controller, generation of harmonics and distortion in the output waveform can be reduced. The switching of the power devices in power electronic converter can cause radio frequency interference due to electromagnetic radiation as a result gating circuits may generate erroneous control signals. This interference problem can be avoided by the use of grounded shielding.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of oscillators?

The biggest disadvantages with oscillators are that they have to be stabilized with control heaters. If the oscillator is operated in a non temperature controlled environment it will drift off frequency and it is not good policy to transmit over a wider that necessary bandwidth. The frequency on either side of the offending transmitter will be affected.

What is the best frequency range for headphones?

As low as possible to as high as possible, but don't go just by frequency response. Anything by Sony or sennheiser are normally good. A good unknown brand I found were Urbanz. Decent frequency response is generally anything from 20Hz and lower to 25KHz and higher. For example, 10Hz to 28kHz is decent. Some professional headphones (such as professional sennheisers) boast 3Hz to 50kHz, but unless you are a music producer this is rarely necessary. Hope this has helped :)

Which condition is necessary for a standing wave?

A standing wave is created by the interference of two waves with the same frequency and amplitude traveling in opposite directions along the same medium. The condition necessary for a standing wave to form is that the two waves have to have the same frequency and wavelength.
