ohh well i live in Texas and i have pretty much been stung by a man o' war (also manowar so i call it) so i know those are out there... lol :] there are also blue buttons which actually do not sting, but sometimes can cause a rash so i heard if touching them. however when i did, i didn't get irritation what so ever (ofcourse i collected them in my bucket!!). cannonball jellyfish too but are more closer to Florida.. but could get near Texas.. moon jellyfish too.. (very pretty!) and the sea nettle. haven't seen this yet- Lions Mane jellyfish. i always used to go to the port lavaca beach until that desease came about.... :(
my mom always tells me that when a jellyfish is dead it can still sting!! i always found some washed up on shore includind baby ones :] ephyna is the proper name though. they remind me of squishy on finding nemo except they are literally see through when i saw em.. i love Texas and the beach and visit every time i can!! expecially mustang island. just be careful and be aware!!
