Lewis Carroll, whose real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, was a mathematician and logician and a lecturer in mathematics at Christ Church College, Oxford University. He was also a deacon at the college cathedral.

He was also an author. His most famous works were Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass. Carroll also wrote poetry. His most famous poem is The Hunting of the Snark.
