One easy way is to draw a modified staircase, eg use coordinates:
(0,0), (1,0), (1,1), (2,1), (2,2), (3,2), (3,4)
Ah, a regular heptagon is a special shape with seven sides. Each pair of opposite sides in a regular heptagon are parallel, so it has three pairs of parallel sides. Just imagine those lovely sides stretching out peacefully and evenly, creating a harmonious shape.
You are a hexagon...
A regular hexagon has 6 parallel sides (3 pairs)
An octagon can have 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 parallel sides. A regular octagon has 4 pairs of 2 parallel sides, (8 parallel sides in all).
Three pairs: all six sides are members of a parallel pair.

hexagon
A triangle. It has only three sides!
Providing that it is a regular 6 sided hexagon then it will have 3 pairs of opposite parallel sides. Though an irregular hexagon (shaped as the outline of an L) can have 2 sets of three parallel sides.
A regular hexagon has three sets (pairs) of parallel line segments that form it.
A regular hexagon has three pairs of parallel sides. An irregular hexagon can have two, one or none.
