No number lines are infinite in length. If you have a section of the line, a segment, then the midpoint is the average of the lower and the higher value:

(L> + H) / 2

(Lower value plus higher value divided by two)

Note that if either of the values is less than zero you will have to think a little harder to get the absolute distance between them!

How do you find the midpoint of a line?

The midpoint of a line can be found easily by using the midpoint formula. Find the length of the line and simply divide it in two.

How do you find the midpoint of a line segment?

The midpoint of a line segment would be to add up all of the numbers in the segment. Then divide by the number of numbers that were added. For example if a 1, 3, and 8 were added, divide by 3. This will give the midpoint of the line segment.

Midpoint of curve or line segment?

Average the x and y (and z if there is one) coordinates to find a midpoint of a line.

What are pdiports 64?

Use the midpoint calculator to find out the midpoint of a line segment, which is the point that cuts the segment into two equal parts.

Why can't you find the midpoint of a line?

You can with a pair of compasses!

Can you find the mid-point of a line explain?

You can't find the midpoint of a general line as a general line is infinitely long. However you can find the midpoint of a Pacific line between two points add up the x values divide by 2. Add up the y values divide by 2. That is the coordinate of the midpoint of a Pacific line.

What is the midpoint between -9 and 15 on the number line?

Can a line segment has an infinite number of midpoints?

No. A line segment can have only one midpoint.

You can find the midpoint of a line using paper-folding constructions?

Can you find the midpoint of a line segment using folded paper?

True

How do you find an endpoint if you are given one endpoint and the midpoint?

If you are only given one endpoint and a midpoint, you know what the middle of the line segment is. Since the midpoint is half of what the line segment's length is, all you have to do is find the distance between the endpoint given and the midpoint, then add that coordinate to your midpoint and get your other endpoint. For example: Endpoint A: (4,5) Midpoint: (6,8) Distance between: (2,3) Add (2,3) to (6,8) and get Endpoint B: (8,11).

Why bisect a line segment?

To find its mid point. Which then raises the question why find its midpoint and I cannot answer that.
