To work out the number of sides, this polygon has to be a regular polygon in which all the interior angles are the same

A regular polygon has exterior angles of 10o, therefore it must have interior angles of 180o - 10o = 170o

Total interior angles = (Number of sides - 2)x180o

Therefore each interior angle = [(Number of sides - 2)x180o]/Number of sides

n = number of sides

170o = [(n-2)x180o]/n

170no = 180no-360o

360o = 10no

n = 360o/10o

n = 36

Work out the exterior angle for a regular decagon?

Each exterior angle of a regular polygon with n sides is 360/n degrees. So, for a decagon, it would be 360/10 = 36 degrees.

How do you work out exterior angle of an decagon?

You cannot. An exterior angle of a decagon can have any value.

What is the interior and exterior angle of a regular octagon?

To work this out, all the external angles of any shape add up to 360°, so all we need to do to work the external angle out is divide 360° by the number of sides giving us a sum of 360 divided by 8 sides = 45°; so now we have the exterior angle we can easily find the internal angle, we do this by subtracting the external angle which in the case of an octagon is 45° from 180° thus giving us 135°, of course this is only going to work on a regular shape with equal sides as an irregular shape is going to have different angles but will still total 360°.The interior angle of a regular octagon is 135° and the external 45°.By tash2010

How do you work out interior and exterior angles?

INTERIOR ANGLESOK, here's a geometry lesson for you. This rule works for shapes with any amount of sides, as long as they are equilateral (all sides and angles the same).All the interior (inside) angles follow a linear sequence of adding 180, starting with a triangle (3 sides) adding up to 180, a square (4 sides) adding up to 360, a pentagon (5 sides) adding up to 540, a hexagon (6 sides) adding up to 720 etc.So, for example, to work out the interior angles of a Hendecagon (11 sides) It would be 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 (or 180 x 9) = 1620. REMEMBER to subtract 2 from the number of angles THEN multiply by 180. This may sound confusing, but it is because this doesn't work for 1 and 2 sided shapes. That is why, in the Hendecagon (11 sides) example, it was 180 x 9.Now to work out the angles. In many cases it could be easier just to learn them, (trianlge, 60, square, 90 etc etc etc) but, again, you can still work out what you don't know. Lets take our friend the Hendecagon (11 sides). As before, 9 x 180 = 1620. You then simply divide this number by the original number (before you subtracted 2) So, 1620 divided by 11 = 147.2727272727 (rounded to 147.3). So, the INTERIOR angle of a Hendecagon is 147.3oEXTERIOR (out side) ANGLES:Once you know the INTERIOR ANGLE, working out the exterior is EASY! 360 minus Interior = Exterior. So, with our Hendecagon, 360 minus 147.3 = 212.7. Summary - Number of sides (11) minus 2 (9) x 180 (1620) divided by original number (11) equals INTERIOR ANGLE (147.3)360 - INTERIOR ANGLE (147.3) equals EXTERIOR ANGLE (212.7)Remember to write the o symbol!How do you work out interior and exterior angles

Work out the number of sides of a regular polygon with the interior angle of 178?

If each interior angle is 178 degrees then the regular polygon will have 180 sides.

How do you work out the amount sides a polygon has with only the exterior angle?

If it is a regular polygon then divide the exterior angle into 360 degrees to find the amount of sides it has because the exterior angles of any polygon add up to 360 degrees.

How do you work out the number of sides in a regular polygon that has an exterior angle?

With a regular polygon: 360/exterior angle = number of sides

How do you work out the exterior and interior angles of a regular polygon with W sides?

Exterior angle regular polygon = 360° ÷ number of sides = 360° ÷ W Interior angle regular polygon = 180° - exterior angle regular polygon = 180° - (360° ÷ number of sides ) = 180° - (360° ÷ W)

How do you work out the interior and exterior angles of a regular polygon?

If the polygon has n sides (or vertices) each exterior angle is 360/n. Each interior angle = 180 - exterior angle = 180 - 360/n

What is an exterior angle of a nonagon?

The sum of the exterior angles in any polygon is 360 degrees. A nonagon has 9 sides, so to work out a single exterior angle, we divide 360 by 9, which is 40.

How do you work out exterior angle for a triangle?

Work out the exterior angle for a regular decagon?

How do get the size of exterior angle giving eight sides?

If we refer to your 8 sided shape as a regular octagon we can use the formula 360/n to work out the side of a single exterior angle. n refers to the number of sides. In this case the equation you would use would be 360/8 which in turn equals 45 degrees. So the size of a single exterior angle in a octagon is 45 degrees.

How do you work out the exterior angle?

Measure it. There is no formula for an exterior angle unless you have a regular (or equiangular) polygon. And there is no evidence to suggest that that is the case.

How do you work out how many sides a regular polygon has?

It depends upon what you know about the polygon:The namePolygons are normally named based on Greek numbers: Penta - 5Hexa - 6Hepta - 7Octa - 8Nona - 9Deca - 10Hendeca - 11Dodeca - 12The Hendecagon is sometimes referred to as a Undecagon.Triangles are 3 sided and quadrilaterals are 4 sided.The exterior angleThe sum of the exterior angles of a polygon sum to 360o. With a regular polygon, these are all the same, so divide 360o by the exterior angle and it will give you the number of sides. The interior angleFirst find the exterior angle of the polygon: since the exterior and interior angles of a polygon are supplementary, they sum to 180o, so subtract the interior angle from 180o to get the exterior angle; then use the method of the exterior angle above.
