Yes, Matthew Geriak lost his leg above the knee from a cancer operation in 1988. The doctors (oncologists) stated that the chances of him living beyond 5 yrs was less than 30%. It is 2014 at the time of this writing and he is still alive and well. He walks with a prosthesis and never uses crutches or a wheel chair.

Yes, I am disabled in real life and the previous answer is correct. It is April of 2024 and I'm still alive and working hard in the field of medical research focusing on oncology and infectious diseases. Cheers!
