the circumference is NOT from one side of the circle to the other!


The circumference of a circle is the distance around a circle (like its perimeter). The formula for that would be C=pi*d, where C is your circumference, and d is your diameter.


Therefore, if 87.5=pi*d, just divide 87.5 by pi (I will use 3.14), and get a rounded answer of 27.87 cm for the diameter.
