Without being able to see your cross, I can only assume that what you are describing is the following: The circle of thorns: When Jesus was crucified, he was not crucified because he was a criminal or because he had done anything wrong. The religious leaders wanted him crucified because he claimed to be the "King of the Jews" or the Jewish "Messiah". So when he was crucified by the soldiers, to be cruel they made a mock "crown" out of thorns and forcibly placed it on Jesus' head. (John 19:1-3) The hatchet or hammer: When Jesus was crucified, they drove large nails, or spikes through his hands and feet into the cross with a hammer. (John 20:25) The box above the ladder: If the box you are describing is positioned at the top of the cross, above where Jesus' head would have been, then it is the sign they placed above his head. When Jesus was crucified, Pilate (the man who gave permission for him to be crucified) wrote a sign to be placed on Jesus' cross that stated that he was the King of the Jews. (John 19:19-22) The Ladder: A ladder is not actually mentioned in The Bible during the story of the Crucifixion but one could assume that during Jesus' Crucifixion the soldiers could have used a ladder. The ladder is probably there for the placing of the afore mentioned sign, and the Bible also tells of Jesus' thirst during his crucifixion so the soldiers could have used a ladder to offer him vinegar to drink (John 19:29), or to pierce his side with the spear to find out if he was really dead in John 19:33-34. Another note: It is also said that there is a reason why your cross is gold. The gold refers to the streets of gold that are found in the New Jerusalem, or what we call "heaven". (Revelation chapter 21, specifically verses 18 and 21) So what does the streets of gold in heaven have to do with Jesus' crucifixion? The Bible says that there is a price for sin, (Romans 6:23) and anyone who has sin that is unaccounted for will not be able to go to heaven, but will have to spend an eternity paying for their sin in hell (Revelation 20:11-15). But the problem is, everyone one of us has sinned (dishonored parents, lied, etc. - Romans 3:23), and God is a God of love who does not want any of us to spend eternity in hell. (John 3:16) So God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, to the earth on a mission. (John 3:16) His mission was to live a sinless life, and then at the end of his life, to die. His death was not for his own sins, but to pay for "the sins of many". (Matthew 26:28, Hebrews 9:28) So that's what the crucifixion has to do with heaven. Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of every sinner. Whoever will believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sin, repent of their sin, and trust Jesus Christ as their savior, will have their sins forgiven, and a home in heaven - with the streets of gold.
