It cannot be a quadrilateral because if one pair of opposite sides are congruent and parallel, it is a parallelogram and so the other two sides are also (mutually) congruent and parallel. Any polygon with 5 or more sides will have an irregular form which satisfies these conditions.

If one side of a quadrilateral is congruent to its opposite side then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram?

No, it doesn't have to be. A quadrilateral can definitely be a parallelogram only if: - Both pairs of opposite sides are parallel. - Both pairs of opposite sides are congruent. - One pair of opposite sides are both congruent and parallel. - Both pairs of opposite angles are congruent. - The diagonals bisect each other.

Is Opposite sides congruent one of the properties of a parallelogram?

A parallelogram is a quadrelateral with opposite sides parallel and congruent.

If one pair of opposite sides of a quadrilateral is congruent then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram?

No. The congruent sides need not be parallel.

If one pair of opposite sides of a quadrilateral is parallel and then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram?

Then, the opposite sides are congruent.

Is a quadrilateral a parallelogram if one pair of opposite angles is congruent and one pair of opposite sides is parallel?

Yes, it is.

What is one way to prove that a quadrilateral is a parallegram?

* both pairs of opposite sides are parallel * both pairs of opposite sides are congruent * both pairs of opposite angles are congruent * one pair of opposite sides are parallel and congruent * both diagonals bisect each other * all consecutive angle pairs are supplementary

What are 4 different types of quadrilateralas?

There are: Squares, which have all four sides parallel and congruent, all four angles are right and congruent, the diagonals bisect each other and are congruent. Trapezoids, which have two of their sides parallel Rhombus, which have all sides congruent, diagonals bisect, and opposite angles are congruent Parallelograms, which have opposite sides congruent and parallel, diagonals bisect Rectangle, which is a square but one pair of opposite sides aren't congruent.

One pair of opposite sides of a quadrilateral is and congruent then the quadrilateral is a parallelogram?

Parallel

Does an isosceles trapezoid have opposite sides that are congruent?

One pair of opposite sides - the non-parallel ones.

What are some characteristics of a trapezoid?

The only real characteristic of a trapezoid is that one pair of opposite sides is parallel. For an isosceles trapezoid, in addition to one pair of opposite sides being parallel; the legs are congruent; each pair of base angles is congruent; and the diagonals are congruent.

A quadrilateral with exactly 1 pair of parrell sides and exactly 1 pair of congruent sides?

This quadrilateral is a trapezoid. In a trapezoid, one pair of opposite sides is parallel, and one pair of opposite sides is congruent. The other two sides are not parallel or congruent.

What is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite sides parallel and the other pair of opposite sides congruent?
