In geometry a diameter of a circle is defined as a straight line which passes through the centre of a circle and whose end points both lie on the circle.

The length of this line can be used to find both the area and circumference of a circle.

C = pi(d)

A = pi(d)2/4

Where:
c = circumference (m)
a = area (m2)
d = diameter (m)
piA = 3.14159265

APi is is a mathematical constant whose value is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. Shown here to 8 decimal places.
