Because that is what a conjecture is! It is a proposition that has to be checked out to see f it is

  • always true, false or indeterminate,
  • sometimes true, false or indeterminate,
  • never true, false or indeterminate.

Once its nature has been decided then it is no longer a conjecture.

Why only one counterexample is necessary to show that a conjecture is false?

To be true a Conjecture must be true for all cases.

What is conjecture mathematically?

It is a proposition that is believed to be true but has not [yet] been proven to be true. Clearly, if proven to be false it would no longer be a conjecture.

What is an examlpe that proves that a conjecture or statement is false?

A therefore B A is true Therefore B is true Logically..... A is true A is false Therefore B is false

How do you prove a conjecture is false?

Prove that if it were true then there must be a contradiction.

Make a conjecture about the sum of the first 25 positive even numbers?

My conjecture is that the sum is 67. A conjecture does not have to be true, or even plausible. You should be able to test it. If it is found to be true then in is no longer a conjecture, if it is found to be false, it is rejected - and so no longer a conjecture. If it cannot be proved either way, it remains a conjecture.

What shows that a conjecture is false?

A conjecture should be testable. You test it and if it fails the test, it is a false conjecture.

How determine whether the conjecture is true or false. If false give a counterexample. Given LMN and XMZ are coplanar. Conjecture The angles are vertical angles.?

Select one: a. False; the angles may be supplementary. b. True c. False; one angle may be in the interior of the other. d. False; the angles may be adjacent.

Is the conjecture true or false Every clover has three leaves?

Incorrect; some have 4.

How is testing a conjecture like finding a statement true or falsehow is it different?

well.......Its like testing a conjecture and finding a statement true or false because u have to test it!!! to see if its true or false and its different, true is like something u can prove and false is untrue and u cant prove it. :D i know i don't make sense but that's how i explained it on my homeworklol

What is a statement that shows conjecture is false?

A counter example is a statement that shows conjecture is false.

What conjecture can you make about the sum of the first 46 positive odd numbers?

Any conjecture you want; a conjecture is merely an opinion or conclusion based on given information. Whether the conjecture is true or not is left to be proved (if provable at all). One opinion (conjecture) could be that the sum is "blue". It's a totally nonsense conjecture, but its a conjecture none the less. A sensible conjecture might be that the sum is odd. This can be tested and found to be true or false by summing the first 46 odd numbers (a mechanical method that is fairly easy in this case), or by the mathematical manipulation of axioms via algebra (a mathematical proof).

Among elliptical orbits some are more circular than others true or false?

The veracity of that conjecture can't be disputed.
