What is an allele

a form of a gene apex

How are mitosis and meiosis similar

they both produce new cells(apex)

they both have prophase and metaphase (anaphase)

They both involve duplicating chromosomes.

they both have simular steps.

What determines the traits of an organism

the genotype

What must happen before meiosis can begin

DNA doubles and produces sister chromatids before meiosis begins.

the chromosomes must replicate

Which two DNA samples are the most similar

The question itself is not clear. Two cells that have just divided will have the MOST similar DNA. If we are talking about whole organisms or individuals, then clones would have the most similar DNA, similarly identical twins would have near identical DNA. Siblings have very similar DNA but not identical of course.

Is color blindness a dominant or a recessive trait

Color blindness is a recessive sex linked trait.

How are tumor cells different from normal cells

Mitosis is not regulated in tumor cells. This can cause the rapid proliferation of a large number of non-functional cells, whose only actions are to divide into more cells.

Tumor cells multiply too quickly.

Why did Mendel study such a large sample of pea plants to determine the probability of inheritance

The more samples you use, the closer your results will match probability.

Which best describes the pure lines in mendels experiment

They were homozygous.

A scientist is preparing a punnett square for a dihybrid cross of a plant with a genotype of GGKk. What possible gametes can the plant produce

Gk, gk

What statement is true of the X chromosomes

Women have two of them.

A mother has one allele for color blindness and one Allele or normal vision what is the probability that her Gamete Will have the Allele for the color blindness

50%

How are meiosis and mitosis different

mitosis only has to do with celluar reproduction

meiosis has to do with sex cells reproducing
Mitosis creates new cells that are used for development, repair, asexual reproduction and growth. Meiosis creates cells in order for organisms to reproduce sexually.

What is the probability that a father produces a gamete with the allele for attached earlobes if he has one allele for detached earlobes and one allele for attached earlobes

50%

Why deos A mother has one allele for dimples and one allele for no dimples What is the probability that she produces a gamete with the allele for dimples

Answer is 50% :: Apex

Which best describes probability

the likelihood that something will happen
