An experiment that you can compare your test results

Standardization

What does a culture medium provide to a living cell

Food molecules called nutrients and water Culture medium provides what makes living cells. This is what keeps living cells functional.

Apex- water

Which geometric solid is the best model for these cells

A right circular cylinder

apex

A man is 1.7 m long a paramecium is 85 um long how does the length of the man compare to the length of the paramecium

the man is twenty thousand

(2x10 exponent 4) times

larger than the paramecium

In an experiment a snail was observed to have moved a distance of 0.5 meters in 2 hours what rate of movement was observed in this experiment

0.25

What is the volume of a right circular cylinder with a radius of 2 meter and a height of 9 meters

108m3

A blood stem cell can differentiate into only different types of blood cells What kind of stem cell is this

Multipotent

Using the simple approximation above calculate the surface area of a sphere with a radius of 7 meters

The surface area of a sphere with radius R m is 4*pi*R^2 so, in this case, the exact value would be 196*pi. Use the given estimate for pi - which is not visible to us since there is no "above" that is visible.

3. a) The flowchart below shows the pathway a protein takes from its production to its destination either inside or outside the cell.

b) Antibiotics destroy a bacterial infection by disabling ribosomes in the bacteria. Eukarotic cells contain mitochondria that themselves contain ribosomes while bacterial cells have no organelles and thus have uncontained ribosomes. How do chemists use this fact to create antibiotics that can destroy a bacterial infection without harming human cells?

C) Explain what would happen to the salmon's cells if this process did not occur

I'm assuming you're talking about osmosis. If osmosis didn't occur, then the saltwater salmon couldn't adapt to freshwater and would suffer from a lack of water and too much salt in the cells, and the freshwater salmon would have too much water and not enough salt in it's cells. The saltwater salmon would shrivel up in freshwater, and the freshwater salmon would burst in saltwater.

Using the simple approximation above calculate the surface area of a sphere with a radius of 5 meter

The surface area is approximately 300m²- APEX
