How do disc brakes work

Most modern cars have disc brakes on the front wheels, and some have disc brakes on all four wheels. This is the part of the brake system that does the actual work of stopping the car.

The disc brake is a lot like the brakes on a bicycle. Bicycle brakes have a caliper, which squeezes the brake pads against the wheel. In a disc brake, the brake pads squeeze the rotor instead of the wheel, and the force is transmitted hydraulically instead of through a cable. Friction between the pads and the disc slows the disc down.

Vented disc brakes have a set of vanes, between the two sides of the disc, that pumps air through the disc to provide cooling.

How many faces does a square pyrimid have

5 faces

What is the formula for the volume of a pyrimid

length x width x height divided by 3.

Why aren't cylinders cones and spheres polyhedrons geometry

polyhedrons need flat face and edges, corners which cylinder cones don't have.

A has cross-sectional shapes that are similar but not congruent to one another

pyramid

* * * * *

A frustum : of a cone is another possibility.

A pyramid has a base with n sides How many vertices does the pyramid have

n+1 = vertices of a pyramid If: n = number of sides of the polygonal base AND a pyramid has 1 point where line segments from points of the polygonal base intersect

A cylinder is a polyhedron

false

Cylinders and cones are just polyhedrons with circular bases

False. Cylinders and cones are not just polyhedrons with circular bases.

Only a triangle can be the base of a pyramid

false

A has cross sectional shapes that are similar but not congruent to one another

Cones, pyramids, and spheres have.

How are pyramids and cones different than prisms and cylinders

Pyramids and cones have one base and an apex whereas prisms and cylinders have two bases.

The horizontal cross sectional shapes of the cone below are not all congruent

True

The horizontal cross sectional shapes of the cylinder below are not all congruent

go f-bomb y

What is a solid consisting of a polygon a point not in the same plane as the polygon and all points between them

pyramid

What is a 3 dimensional figure with 2 congruent parellel bases that are polygons

If, by parellel you mean parallel, the answer is a prism.

Which of the following choices describe the bases of a cylinder A polygons B Discs C Parallel D Congruent

A cylinder has parallel discs bases that are congruent in size.

Is cube can be constructed from discs alone

a cone (not including the vertex) and a cylinder

Are prisims polyhedrons or not polyhedrons

A prism is a polyhedron.
