The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is divided into two groups of nerves: sensory nerves, which transmit information from the body to the central nervous system, and motor nerves, which transmit information from the central nervous system to the muscles and glands to produce a response.

The main function of the peripheral nervous system is to connect the central nervous system to the limbs and organs. It helps coordinate body movements and receiving external stimuli. It is also the system that controls the "fight or flight" response.
The autonomic nervous system is divided into the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.
The Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous system
The central nervous system is divided into the brain and the spinal cord. The brain is responsible for processing and interpreting information, while the spinal cord helps with transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body.
The peripheral nervous system is divided into the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous systems.
The Nervous System is divided into two which are the central nervous system or CNS and the peripheral nervous system or PNS. The division that includes the brain is CNS.

Groups of nerve cells that control the nervous system are called nuclei in the central nervous system and ganglia in the peripheral nervous system. These clusters of nerve cells work together to regulate various functions such as movement, sensation, and organ functions.
