There are different types of lodging including hotel and motels. A hotel is typically a large building with several floors. A motel is usually one or two floors. The prices usually are different between the two. Hotels are often more expensive than a motel. Hotels often have more amenities than motels. Motels are often used for longer staying guests.

It was a motel and it's name is Lorraine Motel. It sits on a very wide boulevard in that city.
I would have to say Motel 6. They always have prices much lower than other chains. You always get all the ammenities of the pricier, fancier places. They are always clean, comfortable, have courteous service and the pool is nice, especially for kids. I've stayed in Motel 6's all over the country and you always know what to expect. I usually use the motel just for a place to lay my head and to shower and look for the cheapest motels/hotels because it seem stupid to pay a lot just to sleep and shower.
Different toilets, different schools, different restaurants, down in the South.

Yes, there were many different types depending on the country they were in, their purpose, and when they were built.
