masks and ancient cultures

In some ancient cultures, a mask represent the soul of an object. When a person wears such mask, they "soul shift" into the object they are representing. They experience the world from the perspective of the thing they have "become," and have a more well-rounded understanding of the spirit world. They also believe they can communicate with other creatures of the mask they are wearing. If they are wearing a wolf mask, per say, they believe they can communicate with wolves, or the wolf god. Masks also represent the disconcerting effect of ignorance, and encourage the wearer to seek out knowledge, as well as accept the fact that some things can only be known by the Gods.
