My friend Thomas Caparelli claims he is a direct descendent of Garibaldi. His great or grandfather was smuggled to America and raised by the Delmontes. After reading about Garabaldi it appears plausable because he had two wives and chlidren from both and his anti- pope indulgences may have put his second wifes children in jeapordy after Garabaldi died. Plus it appears he had been to NY and had the connections.
