He developed the idea that all natural events have underlying natural causes, and there was no need or use in resorting to mythology for explanations, a view that subsequently underlay western science.

Thales was a Greek philosopher who came up with the originating principle. The originating principle was basically the idea that all matter was a single substance which Thales thought was water.

He also came up with the circular theorem ( known as the Thales theorem) which says that if the base of a triangle is the diameter of the circle, the points where the height of the triangle meets the circumference will be a right angle.
