Can horses do math

There is heaps of maths in horse riding.

For example in show jumping you use Pythagoras theorem to find the most effective take off point. To do this the angle must be 45 degrees, and the distance of take off should be the height of the fence. If you get what i mean.

In sporting you can do things like distance between posts, the degrees the horse bends to get around them and the distance to keep from the poles.

In racing you can do stuff about betting, area of the track, speed of the horse, average stride in between the posts of 100m.

There is sooo muc maths if you think about it. :)

If a rider doesn't maintain their balance on the horses center of balance, they will be thrown all over the back of the horse and eventually off the horse. If you have ever seen a mannequin on horseback, it is usually thrown to pieces because it is too rigid. This is because it doesn't have the ability to control balance, flexion or flexibility. Weight of the horse and the weight capicity it can carry is another mathematical equasion to consider when matching up a rider to the appropriate horse. The calculation of a horses speed on a predetermined distance will involve the mathmetical equation for distance divided by time. There are many ways that math can be used in almost any activity.
