The majority of bad breath in humans is caused by bacteria that live on the top of the tongue. It is very possible for a young person to have bad breath because these bacteria can live off the baby food and milk. Most people think bad breath is caused by not brushing the teeth. This is not the case. You might be able to see this bacteria by looking on the top of the tongue for a white colored stuff. This is the bacteria and this bacteria must be removed to cure bad breath. I use an OraBrush tongue cleaner and clean my tongue everytime I brush my teeth. OraBush would also work for a yong child because it has both a brush and a scraper. The brush is very much like a surgeons brush that has plastic soft pointed bristles. Some mother's actually clean the head of new born babies with a surgeon's brush. OraBrush is very gentle and also effective. Here is the website if you are interested in learning more: http://www.orabrush.com
