There are many variations of gallons in the world. The best measure comes form the Ancient Egyptians. The gallon is called Hekat and is 1/2 foot cubed or six inches cubed which is 216 cubic inches. The Egyptian cubit is 18 inches and the foot is 2/3 cubit or 12 inches. The cubit is 450 m meters making the foot 300 mm. The Royal Cubit is 525 mm. The Egyptian pint is f/4 cubed is 27 cubic inches. These measures are still in the American measuring system; 8 gallons in a bushel ( 1 cubic foot) and 64 pints in a bushel. There are 32 gallons to a barrel, which is 4 cubic foot. We need to go back to the Egyptian binary measuring system. The Binary system is better.

Sorry, you can't do that unless you know the weight per cubic foot or cubic inch of the material. For instance, a pound of lead MIGHT be 2 or 3 cubic inches (an estimate) while a pound of wood might be 5 or 6 cubic inches.

None, since there can be no conversion.

An inch is a measure of length in 1-dimensional space while a cubic inch is a measure of volume in 3-dimensional space. The two measure different things and, according to basic principles of dimensional analysis, any attempt at conversion from one to the other is fundamentally flawed.
