There is an Area 51, it is in Nevada, it is an air base.
Doesn't seem much of a secret, though. Not after it being discussed for a few decades.
The government tests planes and such out there. And knowing our government, probably the "and such" is something illegal like chemical or biological agents.
But no UFOs, no aliens, none of that. Remember, our government can't keep an embezzlement or sleazy affair secret, what chance would they have on keeping aliens secret?
