Although most jobs will spec Grade 40, most fabricators stock grade 60 and use it for all applications as it is easier and more cost effective to have one inventory and grade as opposed to two. The Grade 60 is stronger than grade 40 and thus can replace 40 without any problems. Most benders a made to handle the stronger materials anyway, so there should be no problems supplementing 60 for 40.
